Candy and Eric are TikTok influencers known as MomtheVillain and JavaDad respectively. Eric created a post where he tried to get the attention of the Hallmark Channel to film a Christmas movie in his "small, quaint, mountain town" of Evergreen, CO. Instead, a few of Candy's followers tagged her in Eric's post, since she is a filmmaker named Candy Cain that has produced over a dozen Christmas movies with international distribution. As a matter of fact, in an article called "50 Must-Watch Hallmark Christmas Movies" seven of the top ten films were Candy's produced by her company Gemelli Films. Ironically, none of Candy's films have ever been released by Hallmark.

 

Candy knew that there was a film called "Christmas in Evergreen," set in Evergreen, VT but actually filmed in British Columbia. Candy was quick to post a response to Eric, inviting him to reach out to her so that they could create a beautiful Christmas film together. Well, Eric was pretty stoked to get a response after just one day, and reached out to Candy immediately. Since then, the two have signed a co-production agreement between Candy's company Gemelli Films and Eric as the Executive Producer.

Eric and Candy both know that they wouldn't have made the connection without their TikTok followers, and want to make this film journey as inclusive as possible. They will be filming MOCHA & MISTLETOE from December 3 - 18, 2024, in Evergreen, Colorado.  They plan on having a Christmas in July premiere and an official release for Christmas 2025.
